What does this skill involve?

Activities may include but are not limited to:

  • Organising group learning sessions
  • Using different learning methodologies like brainstorming, discussions and presentations
  • Organising debates and role-playing
  • Designing quizzes
  • Facilitation and coaching sessions
  • Mentorship sessions

Skill levels

Level 3 - Apply

Understands and explains the basics of behaviour change within the agricultural innovation system context. Understands the differences between adult and youth learning methodologies. Applies techniques of adult learning during extension training activities. Applies learning assessments suitable to adult learners.

Level 4 - Enable

Demonstrates advanced understanding of how people learn and applies this to behaviour change and agriculture technology adoption. Provides guidance on appropriate teaching methodologies to apply to a range of audiences and contexts. Provides training on behaviour change and adult learning methodologies. Identifies main barriers to adopting new practices. Applies tools and techniques to increase the motivation of learners.

Level 5 - Ensure, Advise

Defines and promotes teaching and training standards. Develops learning materials for use on a large scale. Keeps up-to-date with the research around adult learning.
