What does this skill involve?
Activities may include but are not limited to:
- Capacity building of value chain actors on technical and business operations
- Regulating business activities to ensure quality of transactions and their legal implications
- Conducting research, analysis and recommendations along value chain to strengthen procedures and the quality of services provided along the value chain
- Organising agriculture value chain players
Skill levels
Level 4 - Enable
Provides required technical assistance to value chain players for smooth business operations. Analyses unfamiliar situations in the value chain and proposes solutions. Reports issues that need further assistance from higher governance levels.
Level 5 - Ensure, Advise
Ensures that regulations are observed by all players to keep the value chain operational and well organised. Evaluates and assesses the effectiveness of processes and practices, and their effect on value chain players. Monitors the compliance of all parties to processes established for value chain development. Organises continuous capacity building for all players.
Level 6 - Initiate, Influence
Analyses the chain of practices and operations to come up with possible solutions to complex challenges. Organises consultative meetings with value chain players. Ensures compliance with relevant legislation. Promotes the need for services, products and working practices to provide equal access and equal opportunity to people with diverse abilities. Communicates authoritatively across the value chain to both technical and non-technical audiences. Initiates and influences strategies and policies related to strengthening the agriculture value chain on a wide scale.
Level 7 - Set strategy, Inspire, Mobilise
Applies wide-scale leadership to the formulation and implementation of agriculture value chain strategy and policies. Ensures that value chain players are organised and sets overall understanding on processes and regulations along the chain.
